There are several options at Rincon de la Vieja:

Biornquin Resort & Spa – has the greatest number of stars.  They have a great zip line system, pretty mountain spa and good restaurant.

Buena Vista – is the oldest establishment offering a great day of activities to all ages (horseback riding or ATV tours, mud baths, thermal spings, waterfalls).  A nice choice for families.  They also have a great zip line system and offer hearty, local food for lunch.

Guachipelin – has a good zip line system, horseback riding, mud, thermal springs and a new spa in a very natural, open river side setting.  They also offer canyoneering and tubing down the white water for thrill seekers.  Restaurant serves up a healthy lunch of local fair.

Rincon de la Vieja National Park, Las Pailas sector – Closed on Mondays.  Some may prefer to skip all of the activities and simply take a hike.  You can pick up a trail map at the ranger station for a small fee (recommended – also recommended to drop a trail of breadcrumbs so you can find your way out!)  Trails are a little confusing so be sure that you pay attention and hike with a buddy for added insurance.  BRING A GOOD AMOUNT OF WATER & some snacks.   Road to park is very rough, 4WD necessary.  Worthwhile though.  You will see fumaroles and boiling mud pots and have a chance to see quite a variety of birds and some small mammals.

Non-denominational Christian church services are held in English at Beach Community Church in Brasilito, Sunday mornings at 10:00.
Entrance is ½ kilometer past Westin Conchal main entrance on left (dirt road with creek crossing).

A note about the Sun in Guanacaste
The strength of the sun here is like nothing you have likely ever experienced before due to our proximity to the equator.  Take precautions so you don’t get burnt.  The best part of the day in the tropics is the two hours after sunrise and the two hours before sunset.  Try to plan some outdoor activities during these times for maximal enjoyment.  Plan your siesta during the heat of the day where ever possible.

Enjoy your stay!
